Zurich and Amsterdam June 2018 Day 4

Hi again,

Sorry to be so long with this post but somehow I have had absolutely no time to do it. This is a review of Tuesday when we took the train from Zurich to Basel to go to the Design and Art fairs there. We got there right as the Design fair opened at 10 am and spent the next couple of hours looking at design but I must admit most of that was at Ornamentum Gallery and Galerie Antonella Villanova- two jewelry galleries.

How it looks entering.

Right at the front of the fair was Salon 94 which had some Karl Fritsch rings which we are having a good look at.

Then we went on to Ornamentum.

These 2 pieces caught my eye- one by Tehri Tolvanen and the other by Petra Zimmermann.

And a couple of others.

We moved on to Galerie Antonella Villanova who is from Florence and shows the Manfred Bishoffs I love.

Robert Baines grouping.

But of the design offerings, I have to say that the installation by Koichi Hara from Japanesque Gallery in San Francisco was the most thrilling to me. Thes images really can't capture their strength and power but try to use your imagination.

Now I entered the Art Basel fair itself. I went straight for the Jack Shamain Gallery who has work by artists I like. Here are a few:

Then a few others I liked: Ugo Rondinone.

Then I lost my phone.... horrors of all horrors. I spent the next hour trying to figure out where it might be and asking information if anyone turned it in and asking lost and found if they had it and finally I ran into Ed Gilbert from Anglium Gilbert Gallery and I asked him if he would do me the great favor of calling my number. He did and luckily a dealer answered who had seen the phone and picked it up for safe keeping. It was in his pocket. I ran upstairs to where he was and almost wept with joy. My beloved safely returned. It is a sick relationship I have with this thing.. as many of us do.

Anyway, I only had a little more time at the fair and I was fairly distracted at this point so I only saw a few more things worth adding in.

Jumped on the 4:07 train back to Zurich for an early dinner at Kronenhalle again with the baby chickens, french fries, rösti, and spinach. But first, we had the line up of drinks- white wine, Lady Killer, Manhattan, and Aurora.

That's all for now. Off to sleep.

Hugs,
Susan
