Little Rock Arkansas Day 2

Hi again,

Well, this blog is getting off to a slow start as did this trip. My first day here was spent mostly in this grand old hotel exploring the place and trying to walk around enough to get some exercise. Here are some of the rooms.

This is  the second-floor lobby

I had a lovely lunch with the 2 Barbaras and then later in the day Linda P and Sara from Houston when to Marion Fulks to have dinner and to help her set up for the next day viewing of her jewelry collection.

Her house is a lovely Southern style house complete with from porch and pillars.

Her living room is filled with many treasures including some jewelry displayed among the other baskets, wood carvings, books, and objects. Marion loves things. Besides the amazing jewelry collection, Marion collects drawings of women. The Arkansas Art Center has a long history of having a fantastic drawing collection which was started in the 1970s by Townsend Wolfe the original chief curator there. Every year they have a Collectors show where patrons of the Art Center can buy things sent for the show by major galleries. Marion has taken advantage of this over the years and her drawing collection has grown to cover her walls.

Here is one of my favorites. A drawing of Marion.

We had a homecooked dinner of salmon, rice, and salad first before we tackled the jewelry. Marion is the enthusiastic one in red and Sara is beside her.

Ok so we went  on to the complete our mission of display and discovery. But I will save that for tomorrow so you can see the results when the whole group visits.

Hugs to all,

Susan
