Lisbon Day 6

Hi,

Well everyone is still talking about the Fado singer and SB even sent me an good photo of her so just for everyones enjoyment here it is.

Today was very short so I had a chance to swim in the pool here again. It is only 3 feet deep and the aerobics I usually do requires at least 6 feet so this makes it challenging to do my routine but I just think any kind of movement and deep breathing is good so I do my best within the limitations.

The day started late so the first thing we did was go to lunch at the Darwin Cafe which is near the Champalimaud Center for the Unknown. This is biomedical research foundation specializing in oncology and neuroscience with cutting edge research is located in a grand building with an elegant courtyard. It reminded me of the Salk Institute building by Kahn in Southern California in scale and grandeur.

With a view of the large Tagus river.

The cafe itself is filled with quotes from Darwin and colorful interior design.

One whole wall was covered with fish, birds and butterflies. The lunch was good and the round tables made for comfortable conversation.

After lunch we went to a showroom not too far from the hotel to see a collection of artists work who were part of an organization that Cristina Felipe started called Pin. You can begin to understand now how much work Cristina has done to promote Portuguese jewelers. She is devoted to it. Look at this amazing collar she is wearing. The light areas are actually lights that shine up on her face. I think it was called Narcissist.

Here is the display and Cristina talking about the organization.

Then it was back to my room with this incredible view of the skyline of the city with a park directly below.

And to dinner.... again an omelette and martini in the bar. If you look closely you can see one of the trip members on the other side of the bar.

That's all folks.

xox,
Susan
