Venice Day 1

Hi,

After one last caesar salad at the Four Seasons Ritz in Lisbon I arranged to have a large box of books sent home - the Europeans are so happy to publish and then share their books which always means that I am sending them home by FedEx. Then it was on to the airport to catch a 2.5 hour flight to Venice. I arrived after dark and took a van then a water taxi to the Centurion Hotel on the Grand Canal. Venice is so magical and especially so at night. The light bouncing off the water shimmers and catches all sorts of colors and mysterious shapes.  You travel on foot or on the water not in a vehicle here. It is so different and creates a particular atmosphere.

As I arrive I see the big church-Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute that is right next to the hotel from the water taxi.

I check in and they give me an 'upgrade' which we all know is code for the last room in the house that no one wants. I got a suite with a great view of the church....

And the courtyard below.

But with the bed is upstairs from the bathroom.....

Its a nice bedroom with a wonderful ceiling....

And a bathtub in the room with the bed....
But I asked to change rooms and of course there were none. So I just got a promise to change tomorrow.

That's all folks.

xox,
Susan
