Munich July 5, 2022

Hi,

I didn't do a lot that I can send images of yesterday. After a morning swim and taking care of correcting yesterday's blog post I met Otto Kunzli for lunch. I was a little confused about where I was supposed to meet him so I was late enough that he resorted to calling me. But at that very moment, I arrived. I always enjoy talking to Otto because he is a great storyteller. Today I am interviewing him for a book that Damian Skinner and I are considering producing for the Marzee Collection and gallery. Otto had a couple of shows at the gallery and his students had 5 shows there.

Otto made these pieces of jewelry:

He has also produced a series of eyes in a variety of materials including the following two.

This is Otto Kunzli- a great artist, former teacher, and a. man of immense importance in the jewelry world. As I mentioned he is also a wonderful storyteller which is why I wanted to interview him. It was a delightful afternoon.

Today I met with two other people to interview them. The first was Petra Hölscher who is the jewelry curator at the Pinakothek der Moderne. There is an interview I did with her a couple of years ago on the AJF website https://artjewelryforum.org/interviews/in-conversation-with-dr-petra-ha%C2%B6lscher/ She is an art historian and the interview is very complete and informative.

The other person I interviewed was Atty Tantivit from Atty Gallery in Thailand. Atty has worked with Marzee Gallery as one of the galleries in Frame which is the area where galleries show around the edge of the Schmuck jewelry presentation in the great hall.  She is also a collector and at one time was a jewelry maker. Here is an interview of Atty shortly after she started her gallery on the AJF website https://artjewelryforum.org/interviews/atta-gallery-bangkok-thailand/

So that is all I can say about the last two days but tomorrow I will be going to Schmuck and there will be lots of photos at the end of that day.

That's all Folks.

Susan
