Hi,
Today was a beautiful mostly sunny day which I took advantage of by walking many steps. The day started with some water aerobics again. Remember the pool ...
Then around 11, I started walking and along the way I saw....
My final destination was Galerie Biro. I was greeted enthusiastically by Olga, the wild Hungarian owner. She always acts like I have just returned from a dangerous mission I wasn't expected to survive. It does make me feel welcome but too over the top. Margit Jäschke and Georg Dobler where there just setting up Margit's show so I said I would come back later and started on my way.
I stopped for lunch at Mary's Coffee Shop.... Not a great choice but .......Here is Mary's view from the window and the interior.
I continued on my way to a show called Five Gentlemen Doing their Thing. This is what I saw on the way:
The Five Gentlemen were in a gallery called Artcurial which doesn't usually show jewelry.
One of the Gentlemen is Karl Fritsch.... the ring maker. I always think he likes to create landscapes with his rings. What do you think?
Then I walked over to see Ellen Maurer Ziloli in her usual small spot. She was having a show of friends of Theresa Hilbert who is having a retrospective at the Pinakothek der Modern that opens on Saturday. I really liked the work of Mari Iwamoto. The round one with horns is made of tomato seeds... jeez... and the bomb-shaped one is paper mache.
She also had some new pieces by Otto Kunzli made of a chalk-like substance called meerschaum which he carved. It looks like marble and is very sensuous.
Tonight I will have dinner with an Italian dealer I have never met before named Martina Simeti. She is bringing me this Bernhard Schobinger necklace which I saw years ago and remember thinking represented Bernhard's punk nature extremely well. It is made of pieces of metal dug from the asphalt in NYC in 1980 which is the title.
That's it for today. Hope you all are doing well.
Hugs from Munich,
Susan
