Zurich and Lausanne September 2023

Hi,

Another wonderful day. Today we went to 2 museums with AJF and then one on our own. Incredible shows. The first museum was the MUDAC. It is a design museum with some jewelry and a fabulous architectural design by Francisco and Manuel Aires Mateus.

The entryway to the museum

Interior space

Stairs to the second floor

Shop

Illegal image of the jewelry in their storage space.... I am so sneaky

Then we saw a show called Dialogue Between an Octopus and a Juicer. They tried to cross over various types of design to bring together interesting relationships between the design objects including a lot of jewelry.

                                                    Verena Sieber - Fuchs

Suzanne Klemm and Julie Usel- cellophane pearls

Nel Verbeke and Bettina Speckner

Johanna Dahm

Natalie Lauder's rabbit teeth

Meret Oppenheim- sugar cube- you have seen this before in an earlier blog- remember?

Brynjar Siguroarson and Meret Oppenheim ring with fur

Bernhard Schobinger- slight variation from the last one I showed you.

David Beilander

Graziano Gianocca- this looked completely flat to the eye

Johanna Dahm

Cantonal Museum of Fine Arts Lausanne designed by EBV- Estudio Barozzi/ Veiga of Barcelona. It is right next door to the MUDAC museum.

The entryway featured a large sculpture by Giuseppe Penone

There was a big Magdalena Abakanowicz exhibition. Fabulous

These figures are so moving

And then there were these....These have so much feeling in them. As if she transferred her life force into them. They are huge.

Then we went on our own to the Collection de L'art Brut otherwise known as outsider art. Jean Dubuffet's collection of the art of the insane, uneducated, and people outside of society formed the basis of this museum.

I did not make note of the artist's names on this work but I have included a variety of styles done by these outsiders. Pretty powerful and sometimes scary.

Then to finish off the day Linda Shostak and I went for a swim right here in this lake. It was divine.

Once again I am grateful for your attention.

Have a lovely day. I'll be back again tomorrow.

Love,
Susan
