Zurich and Lausanne September 22023

 Hi,

Today was a travel day with two stops. We hopped on the bus at about 9 am and off we went.

The first stop was at Galerie SO where we spent an hour plus. We were supposed to only be there an hour but our next gallery stop in the same town was closed when we went by. But on the way we ran into a wonderful outdoor market.

Upstairs with Felix Fleury's work- he also was educated as a jeweler and is very clever

Here is the market we discovered on our way to the other gallery which was closed.

Along the way there was also this violinist. He added a lot to the scene

Today was Monument Day in the town and there were lots of them. It is such a charming town.

Then we went on our way to Esther Brinkmann's studio where she and her husband had planned a lunch for us as well as a show of Esther's work. It is impossible to really understand the beauty and variety of objects at work in this place but I have tried to give you a dose. Try to expand your imagination to fill in the gaps. The whole experience there also included a meeting of a group of local jewelry collectors called the Magpies. There were 5 of them there and the woman who started it in the 1980s gave us a brief history of their group. Then I gave a brief history of AJF and Elizabeth talked a bit about her program at a school in Geneva.

Then we drove an hour or more to Lausanne. We are staying in the Chateau d'Ouchy

And we got the room at the top of the tower. It is grand.

Views from the windows. So gorgeous.

We saw a lot today. It was a visual treat. I hope I haven't overwhelmed you.

Have a wonderful day.

Love,
Susan
