Munich 2024 March 1

 Hi,

The day started with a walk to Galerie Handwerk to listen to some lectures and along the way, I saw the first signs of spring.

Arnoldsche Publisher asked three of their recent book subjects to speak this morning and one of the three was Keith Lewis- a jeweler I used to show. He is an elegant, poetic, and passionate speaker and was very warmly received by all who were present. His talk will eventually be on the AJF website if you want to hear it. It is well worth it.

The Galerie Handwerk also had a show called Jewelry All Along the Line. It included some beautiful pieces but a theme that I am not so sure I understood. But nonetheless here are some images.

After a delicious lunch with the Arnoldsche gang at Conti (actually, it was the exact same food in the same place we had last night at the AJF dinner), I went to the Galerie Bayerischer Kunstgewerbeverein where there was a somewhat overwhelming show by Bettina Dittlmann of bowls.

Then MCR and CS and I took a taxi to see the 'American's show' which we heard was hard to find and sure enough it was. Here are the signs.

Can you see the tiny blue sign between the truck and the wall?

We went past this mural

Here is the tiny blue sign closer up

We walked into a cobblestone courtyard

Saw an arrow on the ground and followed it until

We go in this door. It says 3 x USA which is the name of the show.

Inside the door more arrows

More arrows

Finally a reception area

And the show on tinfoil-covered tables

Melanie Blinker? Doesn't seem right does it?

I went back to Galerie Biro and decided finally to get the Cristina Filipe tribute to Kadri Mälk. It seemed to me that it belonged in our collection.

Kadri's clothes were part of the exhibition and recalled her presence

This is the Cristina Filipe piece in two parts

As I was walking home I looked up at the building ahead and look what I saw.

So with that parting shot... in more ways than one.... I will say That's All Folks for today.

Love,
Susan
