Amsterdam 2024

 Hi,

The day started way too early and fast for me. But I got it together and went on a walking tour of the Jewish area of Amsterdam. We learned a lot about the history of the area and how the equality-mindedness of the Dutch allowed the Jews during WWII to continue to prosper until of course the Nazis came in and took over Holland from our tour guide.

Great old bridge

Yup I am in the land of the canals.

Entrance to the area where people who had the plague were sent.

Yup we are in Amsterdam.

The thing that looks like a ship is a beautiful museum designed by Renzo Piano

Then the Into space put together by Marzee to show recent graduates work run by them.

This was a fascinating show of magic lantern images.

Another collection of porcelain in the museum. Beautifully painted.

The fantastic display of model ships that you have seen before on this blog. I am so intrigued by them.

Evert Nijland explaining how he made this necklace.

Collector describing how she purchased the necklace for the Rijks.

Then dinner at a fabulous restaurant - really amazing.

The restaurant is in a greenhouse

And then home at last. So ready to get into bed.

Well, I didn't say much in this blog but I hope you can get the spirit of the trip in the photos. It was a wonderful day.

Until the next time.

Hugs,
Susan
