Hi,
Today, we had another guide to the Jamaican Market, which is quite well-known in these parts. The guide was from Context, a traveling company that uses experts in their fields to conduct the tours. She was a food expert and very knowledgeable about the market and its history. She also brought us to 4 different stands to sample food, which we all thought was delicious. There were piles and piles of fruits and flowers. There are several parts of the market, so some showed fruit, some showed meat, and some showed flowers or things for parties or weddings. It was really overwhelming.
I am just going to show you some images so you get the feeling of the place. But it is the largest market in the world and it felt like it. Did you know that Mexico City is the largest city in the world? It is the beginning of mushroom season
Just love the sunflowers
Piles of roses
Animals made of flowers
Then we decided to go to the National Anthropological Museum, which was also overwhelming. Since none of us knew much about the different tribes or areas of different cultures, it was hard to navigate the museum because it was set up by area and timeframe.
This is what Wikipedia has to say about it: "The permanent exhibitions on the ground floor cover all pre-Columbian civilizations located on the current territory of Mexico as well as in former Mexican territory in what is today the southwestern United States. They are classified as North, West, Maya, Gulf of Mexico, Oaxaca, Mexico, Toltec, and Teotihuacan. The permanent expositions at the first floor show the culture of Native American population of Mexico since the Spanish colonization."
First, there was a large open area with a huge fountain.
The rest of the open space. The big fountain is located behind me and to the left.
Something I found curious
Something else I found curious
The other end of the outside space
This is a tiny fraction of what there is to see in this museum. We walked around for a while, but at some point, it was time for a little something to eat and drink.
Then I walked back to the hotel while D and P continued to explore.
My walking path
Yeah, the entrance to the hotel.
Then to dinner at Sak, a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
