Hi,
Ok, today was very confusing for me.... so I am going to tell you some of what we saw, but I can't identify which building is which.
We toured the historic center of Mexico City. There was a massive Zócalo plaza, the Art Nouveau Palacio de Bellas Artes, and the Metropolitan Cathedral. We also visited other places with our guide, Marlene.
Here is Marlene.
Here are some images, but I will be damned if I can tell you which building is which.
Lenora Carrington
This show was going on, and I have never heard of this artist but he was extremely prolific and worked in many different styles. Below are some samples.
John D Rockefeller vs Stalin
Not sure which of these are his and which are antiques
Then the group stopped in a cathedral devoted to the Virgin of Guatalupe- you can see her on the altar and on the vestments of the man who started the cathedral. The church was built on Aztec ruins which was always the colonizers way.
Beautiful outfits
Then the group then was treated to a group show of work that Lorena put together to try to represent the type of jewelry done in Mexico. Below are some examples. The artists represented are:
Raquel Bessudo, jewelrartist, Mayte Amezcua, Georgina Treviño, Cristina Cells, Sandra Bostock, Alberto Davila, Sandra Salaices, Elvira Bessudo, Martacarmela Sotelo, Luisa Restrepo, Lorena Lazard and Iker Ortiz.
And last but not least... this is not a brooch but a light fixture.
Sorry the blog was so uninformative and scattered today but that is how I am I guess.
Hugs,
Susan
