Little Rock Arkansas Day 4

Hi again,

The day started early with a 3 hours drive to Bentonville to visit the Crystal Bridges Museum. Our kind and trusty driver got us there safely.

We arrive at Crystal Bridges Museum and see the breathtaking view of the museum from above (I didn't take this first image but I couldn't resist giving you the lay of the land). The architecture is by Moshe Safdie. It is beautifully sited over a body of water with bridges spanning it to get from building to building. Really gorgeous.

This is what I could see.

Entry level.

Go down in the elevator and then coming out you are greeted by this huge spider with a little sack of eggs.

Time for lunch in the beautiful dining room. These big beams are throughout the museum.

View from the dining room.

Then out to the South entrance and a tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright house that was moved from New Jersey in the last couple of years and reconstructed on site. It is referred to as the Bachman-Wilson House. The museum bought it from the Bachman's for their collection in 2014 I think. It took a year to reconstruct it.

The approach to the house. Very simple and plain facade.

The entry.

The back view.

The grounds around were beautiful including a fantastic stone wall.

View along hall back to another gallery.

Into the show called The Beyond: Georgia O'Keefe and Contemporary Art. It was really great if you like the work but I am kind of lukewarm on it.

And then you get to the mythology of the woman which is to my mind the best of her.

Walking over to the contemporary art wing of the museum.

First thing I see. Kerry James Marshall.

There is a small show of art by women.

Louise Nevelson

Ruth Asawa

As you walk around you can look out and see sculpture in the gardens as well.
David Smith?

Ursula von Rydingsvard

Leonardo Drew

Walking back to the South Lobby to take the path to see the outdoor sculpture and to get to the 21C hotel.

The gardens along the path are green and lush and simply stunning. The sculpture sometimes is good but never as good as the nature surrounding it.

Arriving at the 21 C hotel. Check out the luggage installation.

Greeting me in the lobby is a Kara Walker.

And I don't know who made this but.... wow.

All the 21C hotels have Penguins - each hotel has a different color... this one is green. The Penguins move around from place to place. This one surprised me in the elevator.

We had dinner in The Hive. Great meal. Best of the trip.

That's all folks. I am home again in foggy cool Tiburon.
Hugs.
