Venice 2024

 Hi,

Ok, we are on the second day of adventures in Venice. And this day was not as good as yesterday because of the first show we saw yesterday, which was so fantastic. But still ...

Starting with Breakfast. Here is our favorite server, Alexandra.

And the falconer again

Breakfast area

the lovely pool

We took the speed boat to Saint Mark's Square.

Close by is this Twainese show.

We stepped into a video of protesting students and the trash they left behind.

And another strange pairing of dining tables and videos of landscapes worldwide. We can't decide what this is all about.

Then there was this ...

Apocalypse?

Then more walking to the next place

This was unexpected. This is the artist listed above. She was giving away these little good luck charm packages. She was Romanian.
And this was her installation. It had to do with luck.
We actually came to see this show.
William Burroughs
Susan Sontag

Anita Steckel
??
Fran Leibowitz
Then I accidentally visited this show from China.

This show from Zimbabwe was an added delight and was also near the Peter Hujar show which is what we actually came to see. There just is so much everywhere.

The following pieces were made with scraps available to find here and there- bits of cloth, zippers, buttons, staples, etc.
This is all buttons

Can you guess what this is made from? Besides a very phallic-looking piece?
Toothpaste tubes!!

Computer tiles
Then we were on our way again.

There is a lot in each of these paintings

Lunch at the Danielle Hotel lobby

This great old mural of Venice was in the lobby

Our last show of the day on the last day of the show. Waldon Ford

It is based on a Biblical story of the lion and a donkey.
The lion is caring for the donkey not mauling it in this image

So that is all except for dinner which we had by the water at AE Botti and it was Ok but not super great, but we did get this....

That's all folks.

Hugs to you all,
Susan
