Hi.
Back again for the continuation of Day 4. After the visit to
the Schmuckismus show we were picked up again by the bus and went to the exhibition
of Babette Boucher at the Galerie Wittenbrink. It was a small but powerful
show. She uses shark teeth with lace and tells the story of Red Riding Hood and
the Wolf. Then there are snakes plus a big multiple image, which refers to birth
and death – Eggs and skulls.
Then on to Galerie Maurer Ziloli (yes the same
dealer/ art historian) where she is having a show in Memory of Bruno Martinazzi.
Here is one of Bruno’s pieces:
And here is a Bernhard Schobinger bracelet in memory
and you will notice that it is based on those plastic notebook rings which he
has cast in metal and then patinaed to look ancient. Maurer- Ziloli says ‘He is
the anti-jeweler’.
In the back of the gallery she had some work and she always shows me some old Herman Jungers and this necklace is quite specular.
On we went to a temporary space set up by Galerie
Door where Doreen Timmins showed some of her jewelers. Doreen used to work for
Marzee gallery but has struck out on her own. She has one jeweler I think is
quite distinctive and original- Coco Sung
Then we walk down the block to
see a series of piece by an artist whose work we saw before. Alexander Blank.
Next is the Hungarian dealer Olga
at Galerie Biro where she is showing Daniel Kruger – first you will see one of
his necklaces hanging and then Olga showing the same necklace off. Ou la la!
Right below Olga's gallery was a show called Influences with a variety of artists in a cave like space.

I am going to skip a couple of
stops here to spare you but I did think you might be interested in Fabricate by
the London student group from Central St Martins.
Lin Cheng was showing her
carved stone smiley faces at Micheko Galerie along with some falling stars.
Now finally we are at the end of
the day but with only a few minutes to freshen up we are on the bus again to go
out to the Messe (where the show is and where we were yesterday) for a dinner
with a large grouping of artists, dealers and collectors.
Ok finally at the end of Day 4... do you see why I didn't have any time to post? I mean can you believe how much we did and saw? Phew!!
xox,
Susan
