Munich Day 2

Hello again,

Tuesday March 6th still.

Today it is cold and crisp perfect walking weather here in Munich. So after my planning breakfast with the Rotenbergs, I came back to my room to work on my presentation for the Collector’s panel on Thursday and then I went out to see a few shows that were open. First I went to the Wittenbrink Fuenfhoefe gallery to see an American jewelry show curated by Helen Drutt. There I ran into Matthew Drutt which was a surprise since I have never met him before even after all these years. The show included work by Jamie Bennett, Kiff Slemmons, Marjorie Schick, Helen Shirk, Thomas Gentille, Sharon Church, Doug Bucci, Kranitsky and Overstreet, Judy Onofrio, Albert Paley (old work) and Eleanor Moty. Looked very good. The Europeans should like the Thomas Gentille and Eleanor Moty work in particular. It is good to have European representation of American jewelry.

Next stop is Micheko Galerie to see Maril Kusumoto’s work which is really beautiful. Wow, another American. It is polyurethane - or one of those polys and has a very dreamy ethereal look.

Lunch at the Museum Brandhorst of white bean soup with ham and water…oh yes and some good German bread. The soup gave me heartburn later… I am such a wimp.

Just up the street from lunch was this great Antique store that specializes in all kinds of pre-industrial things like proto- scientific objects, religious paraphernalia, small pieces of furniture, and all kinds of delicious things that I love. I feel in love with a traveling weighing balance in a box complete with 2 drawers of weights.

Next on to the Kunst + Handwerk to see the Helen Britton and Felix Lindner exhibition called Sentimental Journey. It was a wonderful installation of old furniture, shelves and a purposefully dirty glass cover to one display jewelry.

And in the same location some very interesting things by Rolf Lindner with a title Bijou Brut.

Back to the Charles and a plunge in the pool again. A little time working on emails and my presentation.

Dinner again at the Sophia restaurant in the hotel. Can you tell yet that I am not interested in lots of different dining experiences?

Omelet (which I forgot to photograph) and then a salad and some good Bavarian bread for dinner along with a NYT.

That’s it for today.

Hugs,
Susan
