Munich 2025 #3

 Hi,

Well, this was a totally packed day. I did not go to the Messe for the AJF talks but I understand they went well. This was the line-up.

        Christoph Zellweger

lambert

Susan Lewin

The topics were: Christoph Zellweger on
Agency—Urgencymatt lambert on Jewellery Doesn’t Have to be Art. and Susan Lewin on Promises Made—Promises Kept? I understand they were all really wonderful, but I will have to wait to watch the video since I wasn't able to attend.

I was at the Galerie Handwerk listening to the Bill Harper lecture about his work, which I have always loved, and I discovered someone I didn't know named Gabi Dziuba. Then Toni Greenbaum, Susan Beech and I gave our presentation on Susan's book Feast. Barbara Gifford, who also wrote a chapter in the book, was not in Munich and she was supposed to join us by Zoom, but due to technical difficulties, was unable. She sent me her talk and I read it and showed her slides. It wasn't as good as it could have been if she had done it but...

Here are some images:

Then Gabi
Dziuba who isn't technically solely a jeweler. Here she is and here are some of her images.

Then it was our turn and I don't have any images since I was on the stage..... just try to imagine.

After that, Arnoldsche, the book publisher, took us all to lunch across the street at Condi. It was lively.

After that, I met Petra Hölscher at the Pinakothek der Moderne, A couple of other folks joined us there. We had coffee and made some good plans and then went upstairs to see the Warwick Freeman show. We were the only ones there and it was heavenly. The space is really horrible for shows that have glass covers, which of course this show has, but I will show you images anyway. The title of the show was Hook, Hand, Heart, Star. The first piece here is named that too.

After that, we went to the gallery across the street from the museum called Galerie Wittenbrink and saw a show by a young German artist named Benedict Haener called Kill Your Darling. It was a show that didn't look like it was. Look at this and tell me what you think it is?

Ok ready for this? It is resin sprinkled with diamond dust. The color comes through from the resin. It looked like soft sugary candy to me.

Sandpaper... with diamond dust

Ok, I am exhausted and so I am going to sleep now. Thank you all for sticking with me.

Hugs,
Susan
