Stellebosch 2025 Day 2

 Good morning,

I am now publishing our second day in Stellenbosch, which was Wednesday, so I am several days behind but...

This day we visited an amazing place called Babylonstoren Gardens. According to the website "it comprises 15 clusters spanning vegetable areas, stone and pome fruits, nuts, citrus, berries, bees, herbs, ducks and chickens, a prickly pear maze, and more.Gravity feeds water from a stream by rills into the garden, flowing through ponds planted with edible lotus, nymphaea lilies and waterblommetjies. Every one of the more than 300 varieties of plants in the garden is edible or has medicinal value." It was the brainchild of owner Karen Roos, who commissioned French architect Patrice Taravella to plan the garden's layout.

These shards were dug up when the garden was planted.

In the lobby, as we were leaving, I noticed this unusual lamp hanging from the ceiling

I tried to keep the photos of the garden to a minimum because after all, how many images of green things growing make any sense to you? But it was a really beautiful place and extremely well planned.

We went to La Motte for lunch and then I left for the hotel.

Thursday, we fly to Johannesburg or Joberg as they call it here.

Until then... big hugs,
Susan
