Hi,
This is our last day here, and it was a good one. First, we went to the workshop of Jacobo and Maria Amgeles. It was about a 45-minute bus ride, but I restrained myself from taking photos along the way. You saw enough of them yesterday. They employ about 350 people in a small town with dirt roads. They eat breakfast and lunch there, and the company supports their workers in many ways.
Here is the wood they use to carve the animal figures.
They make the paint colors using all kinds of organic materials. He showed us what happens when you add a squirt of lime juice or baking powder or many other materials and how the colors change.
Then we went to the carving area, and these are some shots of things drying racks. They have to dry for months.
Here are some of the artisans painting a large figure. This one is not wood but fiberglass.
These are some of the little figures in the shop
We went a short way down the road to this restaurant.
Here is the group at lunch
Here is their shrine
The afternoon was free, and since I missed the visit to the museum where Tomb #7 materials were displayed the day before, I decided to visit it today. It was a fabulous find at Monte Alban- where we went and saw the stone temples a few days ago.
The line from the skull to the map is were it was located.
Then I went to some other parts of the museum to check out other objects. I thought these figures were great.
This is the view from one of the windows of the museum, and this square in front of this church is where the wonderful wedding took place yesterday.
