Day 5 Mexico City

 Hi,

Today was wonderful. We started with another Luis Barragán house. It was the last one he designed, called Casa Gilardi. As with all his work, there were so many beautiful surprises and colors.

Another artist was asked to add objects to the house, and these and the window below

The next series of images shows you the courtyard.

This is the pool... isn't it amazing.

Notice the green circles

Notice the green reflections

This is more like the actual color of the hall below

So we leave the house and drive to the university to see the work of students and graduates as well as listen to a lecture by Barbara Gifford, curator at the Museum of Art and Design. This is what we see along the way.... so neat and colorful.

Barbara Gifford is giving her lecture.

Carolyn Broadhead and David Bielander slides she showed

Margart De Patta and her work

We left the museum to visit the studios of two artists. The first is Raquel Bessudo below.

Some of her materials. She uses a lot of paint.

The next is Lorena Lazard, who is a member of the AJF board and helped to arrange this trip. We must be very grateful to her. A lot of her work was based on the Kabbalah, which was based on the dots and lines in the letters of the form. You can see a few pieces on the workbench near her.

In Lorena's studio

Once again, I must leave you until the next day's adventures.

Hugs,
Susan
